What initially attracted you to the world of marketing and communications?

To be completely honest when I started college, I was initially a Psychology major. Eventually, after speaking to my advisor, I realized that I loved the communications aspect of psychology but did not love the science portion. I was referred to public relations as a major, and after my first Intro to Public Relations class, I immediately knew this was the career for me.

Where do you work, and what does your current role entail?

I work as an Associate for AKCG – Public Relations Associates in Glassboro, NJ. As an associate for the firm's PR team, I serve multiple clients within the Senior Living and Association sectors. I assist my team with account coordination, maintaining client relationships, media relations and creating deliverables for our clients.

Are you an active volunteer or member in any organization beyond PPRA?

Yes, in addition to PPRA, I am also a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). I also regularly volunteer for my local dog shelter and dedicate a few Saturdays to walking the dogs.

What is one of your favorite moments of your career? (Any role!)

I would say one of my favorite moments of my career was getting my first media placement within my current role. Getting this placement secured my passion for public relations and reaffirmed that I chose the correct path.

What is your favorite way to digest news, and your favorite outlet?

I really like to digest news through social media. I think social media has made it easier to digest news since many news outlets have an active social media presence where they share breaking news, headlines, and links to their articles. My favorite outlet is the Wall Street Journal.

What’s something you’d like to learn?

Since I am very early in my career, I have a lot to learn, and I am eager to learn it all. I would love to learn more about pitching to a smaller market and tailoring pitches based on the reporter.

Just for fun – what’s your favorite music album that you could listen to on repeat and never get tired of?

I love R&B! It is hard to choose but I would pick A.M. Paradox by Brent Faiyaz, he has been my favorite artist to listen to lately.
